The Fremont Rotary Foundation, Inc. was chartered by the
State of Ohio on April 29, 1986. The Foundation was formed to provide
an entity to funnel tax-deductible contributions that will further the
principles and precepts of the Rotary Club of Fremont. The
incorporators were Richard B. Newman, Jr., William B. Gavitt, and
William A. Wingard. The Foundation received its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt
ruling from the Internal Revenue Service on January 28, 1987.
Since the formation of the Foundation and through June
30, 2007, the Board of Trustees has authorized $51,099.00 in
contribution.
1. Local
youth related groups including Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Camp Fire,
D.A.R.E. of Fremont, YMCA of Sandusky County, and Village House has
received $15,560.00.
2. School
programs including Fremont City Schools, St. Joseph Central Catholic
High School and Terra Community College have received $9,550.00.
3. The
Liberty Center of Sandusky County, a homeless shelter, has received
$3,650.00.
4. Projects
by the City of Fremont, Sandusky County Parks District, Memorial
Hospital, Hayes Presidential Center and Birchard Public Library have
received $6,930.00.
5. Other
local charitable and educational groups, including Habitat for Humanity,
Leadership Sandusky County, Sandusky County Food Pantry, Fremont Soup
Kitchen, First Step Intervention Center, Memorial Hospital and The
Fremont Area Athletic Foundation, have received $8,440.00.
The Foundation gathered funds for the Rotary Club’s 75th
anniversary project funding the extension of the “Rails to Trails”
program in the amount of $42,408, is administering a special
contribution for local and international projects; and is continuing to
fund contributions for local youth, educational and charitable
programs.
