Rotary Bike Tour 2008 for MESA Planning Meeting

at Fremont on August 24, 2007

President Helene on behalf of the Club hosted the above meeting.  In attendance: Ed Stewart, RC Elyria (Event Chairman); DGN Dave Daugherty, RC Mansfield; Bill Pepple & George Brown, RC Bryan; Chuck Stocking, RC Toledo; Ron Stoner, RC Bowling Green; Jim Schrader, RC Findlay; President Helene & Angelica, RC Fremont.

Some of the primary “decisions”:

• The group selected a fixed date for the Tour for future years.  Interestingly, they selected the 2nd full week of July.

• The Tour will be a full 7-day event, in order to fit in more clubs.

• There will a separate coordinator for each day’s ride, responsible for route, stops, lodging and day-rider support arrangements. (Full Tour riders will be independently supported with our own vehicle).

• Next year is scheduled July 13-19, 2008. The ride will START in Fremont, and go through Toledo, Defiance, St. Mary’s, Marion, and Mansfield.

• The District will be starting its own “Cycling to Serve” Fellowship.
