The January 13, 2020 meeting of the Fremont Rotary Club kicked off 2020 with the first meeting of the year. President Roger Kuns opened the meeting with the Rotary Invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance and welcomed the guests. Students of the Month were introduced and each spoke briefly. They included Ben Gedeon from Fremont Ross, Ella Jay from St Joe Central Catholic, Jacob Wylykanowitz from Vanguard Career Center, and Johnathon Dull from Terra State Community College.
 
New member, Tim Schnitker was introduced by his sponsor Past President Tom Hoffman and inducted into the club. It was announced that the club made a donation to PAMS, an organization providing medical supplies and support to Peru, of $12,000.00.  
 
Guest Speaker Kristie Bilger, Executive Director of Downtown Fremont, Inc was introduced by Andy Brown. Kristie shared the history of Downtown Fremont and the 75 acre area included in Downtown Fremont. They organize approximately 20 events to promote and revitalize the downtown area. These events include Farmer’s Markets, Fishing and Outdoor Festival, Adult Easter Egg Hunt, Santa’s House, Chocolate Walk and New Years Eve Celebration. They also take care of the flower planters, lamp post decorations, and various flower beds. An overview of the 2020 events and potential opportunities was discussed. The meeting was closes with the Rotary 4-way test.
