In my year as president, you will see a push for recruitment of new Rotary members. With the help of Scott Lang, Chair of Club Membership and his committee, we will expect participation from the membership to be successful in growing our club.  I think most of you know me and how much I enjoy our social events. To promote fellowship, retain existing members and to recruit new members, we will have a social event at least every other month.

I am also looking forward to our first annual fundraiser Blues, Brews and Brats to be held on August 20th. This will be a fun event that will raise money for many of the programs that we support, including the Centennial Fund. Our goal for the Centennial Fund is to raise 10K per year for 10 years until we get to 100K. This is a great way for us to start saving for the future. I plan to work with the board for new ways to support the Centennial Fund and help us with our commitment. For example, money raised from the OSU Michigan Board could go to the Centennial Fund instead of Paul Harris matching funds.

I plan to support the World Food Program where one of the things we do as a club is to give up one lunch. When our club does this with other rotary clubs we raise some real money for a good cause.

As a club we will continue to support our youth programs, literacy, T-ball, STRIVE, scholarships, students of the month, 4-way test speech contest, the World Community Workshops and the School of Hope Easter egg hunt. We will also be checking the feasibility of starting Rotary Interact Clubs in the high schools. This program is a great way to introduce Rotary to youth. These young adults will eventually become young professionals and be Rotarians of the future.

We will work with other community organizations to support community service such as The Salvation Army, The Sandusky County Food Pantry, United Way, The Liberty Center, Hayes Presidential Library & Museum, Back to the Wild, Storybook Festival, Our Lady of the Pines, The Village House and The Rob Lytle Meaningful, Activity and Caring Center, Shelter Boxes for International Disasters, MESA and End Polio Campaign.

Wow, that is a lot of great things that we do. In order to continue and expand on all the good that we do, it will take you and our fellow members to work through your respected committees. I’m looking forward to a great fun filled Rotary year with your support.

Thank you.
